The light flashes based on how much fuel is left, not DTE as DTE varies depending on average and instantaneous fuel usage.

We went to Ardrossan on Monday. Total distance of 280km and used 25L. That is 9L/100km. It was actually 8.5L/100km to there and 9.5L/100km back as I had to do lots of overtaking of 4WD towing caravans on the way back. Not bad for a 1700kg GTVi AWD 5SPD auto with 250kg payload totalling 1950kg. Both trips were with A/C on and cruise on. On the flats, instanfaneous use was as low as 7.0L/100km holding 110km/hr. These cars have very good aerodynamics with Cd of 0.26.
